To help meet the healthcare needs of the uninsured and low-Income residents of Flagler County.
The Flagler Free Clinic was founded by Dr.John Canakaris, a beloved physician with a history of caring for the area’s indigent population, and Faith Coleman, a nurse who had been diagnosed with cancer at a time when she was uninsured. Having experienced the hardship of being ill without access to care, she was determined to help others who need medical treatment but lack insurance coverage. While her cancer was in remission, Ms. Coleman approached Dr. Canakaris about establishing a free clinic and together they opened the doors of the clinic in February, 2005. Dr. Canakaris died in 2012, and Faith Coleman succumbed to her cancer in 2014. The Free Clinic is a testament to their vision.
The Clinic Today
In 2015 – 2016, we expect our patient roster to grow to more than 3,000. To accommodate more patients, we have increased our clinic days to 5 days a week.
Our goal is to expand our services to the community.
We are seeking to recruit additional practitioners so that we can treat more patients,
and increase the number of specialists our patients can see.
